Paul Heiser shows what he discovers with his camera and with patience and precision during lonely hours in the night sky.
Petra Ina Pfefferle incorporates cosmic worlds as motifs in her paintings and depicts them on canvas with flowing colors according to her inner vision.
The clarity and brilliance of astrophotography complements the dynamism and colorfulness of fluid art to create mirror images of a special kind.
Below is an example of California Fog compared to the Fluid Art image Jet Stream.

In the constellation Perseus, you can find the California Nebula, which traces the shape of the US state. The nebula is enormous, spanning a full 100 light-years. Its intense red color indicates activated hydrogen atoms. The blue star Xi Persei next to it is conveniently located at the height of Star Peak in the Nevada desert... but only when viewed from Earth.

Black holes are like black widows; they consume everything that comes near them. Images showing galaxies with jet-powered matter vacuum cleaners are particularly impressive. Gas plumes form in the rotating disks of galaxies, some of which flow away from the object at right angles to the plane of rotation.
With our exhibition, we want to transport viewers into the overwhelming dimensions of space with over 10 juxtapositions of astrophotography and fluid art works.
Looking up at the sky is also like taking a deep look into our collective past. Even though light travels through space at an unimaginable speed of 299,792 km per second, we cannot observe simultaneity, but only see what has already happened
. So with every glance into the depths of space, we come closer to the origin of all existence.
After my professional life as a purchasing director, I discovered my passion for astrophotography. It is the fascinating art of capturing celestial objects with a camera
. It allows you to photograph stars, galaxies, and other astronomical phenomena. From using specialized cameras and
telescopes to long exposure to capture faint light sources, astrophotography requires technique, patience, and a deep passion for the
night sky.
Another challenge is image processing with appropriate software to optimize the beauty and details of your shots. It is a fascinating way to explore the infinite vastness of the universe through the lens of photography.
I am a biologist and worked in biomedical research until 2023. In 2020, I founded Atelier Pfefferle in Giessen with my husband and have been a freelance artist ever since. Painting and drawing have been a part of my life since my youth. Trained in botanical drawing, I am inspired by themes and motifs from nature, but also from our cultural heritage. My current artistic focus is on abstract and representational acrylic painting.
